Apple mastermind Steve Wozniak will join representatives from several renowned tech firms in a conference taking place in Ho Chi Minh City next week, the organizer has announced.
It was reported earlier this month that Wozniak, Apple co-founder and the brain behind the company’s very first computers, would keynote a tech conference in Vietnam, but there was no detailed information regarding the event organizer and theme until this week.
MobiFone, Vietnam’s second largest mobile network operator by numbers of subscribers, has confirmed it is the organizer of the seminar, called S.M.A.C. 2015, to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on December 2.
S.M.A.C. stands for Social, Mobile, Analytics, Cloud and the Internet of Things, the current technology trends that will be the main topics Wozniak will discuss with around 400 local entrepreneurs at the event, MobiFone said on its website.
The American inventor, electronics engineer, and computer programmer will be joined by representatives from IBM and Oracle in the seminar, running from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and followed by a gala dinner until 7:00 pm, according to the organizer.
The S.M.A.C. 2015, using the theme “connecting values and unlocking potential,” is a chance for the business community to update the world’s technology trends, as well as share the experience of applying technology to business administration with each other, MobiFone said.
Wozniak is scheduled to deliver a presentation titled “The Impact of Technology Evolution and Trends on Businesses over the Last Decade,” followed by a Q&A session, starting at 4:00 pm, according to the conference agenda obtained by Tuoi Tre News.
The seminar also features such presentations as “How Cloud Computing Helps Enterprises Improve Efficiency” by a representative from IBM Vietnam and “The Importance of Understanding Customer Insights and Behaviors” by KPMG Vietnam.
MobiFone deputy general director Nguyen Bao Long will talk about “Application of Big Data and Cloud in Business and Partnership Opportunities” and showcase some of the company’s solutions in the field.
Tickets for the event cost VND5 million (US$223) each, and VND4 million ($179) for early birds, according to ticketbox.vn, an online-ticket website.
Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. with Wozniak's Apple I personal computer introduced in 1976, and the Apple II a year later.
The Apple I sparked a revolution in home computing and laid the foundation for the company to become one of the world’s top tech firms today.
Wozniak currently serves as the Chief Scientist for Primary Data and is a published author with the release of his New York Times best-selling autobiography, “iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon.”
The 65-year-old has been a Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist for more than 30 years, according to Reuters.
