Shares rebound as realty stocks rise

More shares rose towards the end of this morning's session, led by real estate shares, and helped to lift the indices on the two exchanges.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index edged up 0.24 per cent to close at 573.45 points.

Meanwhile, the HNX-Index in Ha Noi rose 0.29 per cent to end at 78.01 points.

The market condition was positive, with 27 per cent of the 677 trading stocks climbing, while 18.5 per cent declined and the rest closed unchanged.

Realty stocks were the largest gainers as most companies in this group posted gains.

Five of the top most active stocks this morning were also real estate companies, with 1.5 million shares to 3.4 million shares being traded on each code. These shares increased between 2.4 per cent and 6.5 per cent.

Kinh Bac City Development (KBC) was leading the market by volume, with 3.4 million of its shares being exchanged, closing up 6.5 per cent at VND13,100 per share.

The overall liquidity remained low at just 68 million shares, worth VND964.5 billion (US$42.9 million), on the two bourses.

The afternoon session will begin at 1pm.
