Daewoo E&C proposes Long An thermal power plant

Korean firm Daewoo E&C wants to build a thermal power plant in the southern province of Long An.

The Korean company announced its proposal to build two coal-run thermal turbines of 600MW each in Can Duoc District during their visit to the province on April 14.

In response, the People's Committee Deputy Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nguyen extended his support to the firm in carrying out its research, while adding that environmental issues must be a priority in the project plan.

The investors have been asked to apply modern technologies and the most effective measures to control environmental pollution.

Under the national power development plan towards 2030, Can Duoc District will have a coal-powered plant after 2020 to help local development.

Founded in 1973 in Seoul, Daewoo E&C is one of the strongest global companies in the field of engineering construction.

In the field of power trading, Daewoo E&C has implemented 50 projects of convectional thermal power stations, gas-fired plants and tidal power, hydroelectric and nuclear power plants, with a total capacity of 30,000MW in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
