Can Tho, Czech region sign MoU

Trade opportunities are expected to open for the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta city of Can Tho and the Plzen region in the western part of Bohemia, the Czech Republic, as the two localities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in many fields last Friday.

Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Hung Dung said that the MoU was aimed at fostering collaboration between businesses from both countries. He added that the city was calling for investments from Plzen across the fields of tourism, industrial zone infrastructure construction and education.

Governor of the Plzen region Vaclav Slajs expressed his hope to set up cooperation with Can Tho in those fields in which they are strong.

In addition, the Plzen region will create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest, such as in mechanics, beer production technology, construction, and transportation, Slajs said.

He was accompanied by representatives of 16 Plzen firms during his visit to Can Tho.
