Websites for discounted products launched

The Vietnam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency and the Vietnam E-commerce Association on November 10 launched the websites of the “Online Shopping Day 2014” program at www.onlinefriday.vn or www.ngaymuasamtructuyen.vn.

The Online Shopping Day 2014 is the first Friday of this December (December 5) and is the first online shopping day in Vietnam. It will be operated like Black Friday in the U.S., but the difference is American shoppers buy discounted products at stores while Vietnamese do the online shopping.

The program aims to help enterprises boost sales and benefit online shoppers by offering big promotions and huge discounts in a bid to stimulate online shopping and expand the e-commerce market in Vietnam.

During 24 hours of the Online Shopping Day 2014, online shoppers at the websites will have their items delivered free of charge and enjoy other special offers by participating enterprises.

The program has now received support from big names like Google, VP Bank, Sacombank, Viettel Telecom, VNG, Tinhte and Hangtot. Google has pledged to provide marketing consulting for 30 firms and assist 500 firms which have not used its online advertising service Adwords.

The Vietnam E-commerce and Information Technology Agency plans to seek the Government’s permission to take the first Friday of every December as the official online shopping day in Vietnam.
