Tanner Vietnam joins the United Nations Global Compact Initiative

Tanner Vietnam recently became a participant of the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate responsibility initiative with over 12,000 business and non-business participants from over 145 countries.

“To become a participant of the United Nations Global Compact Initiative is truly a big motivator for Tanner Vietnam and its employees to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive global economy. Successful, sustainable business is driven by our people and their dedication to corporate values,” said Elmar Dutt, managing director of Tanner Vietnam Ltd.

“We strive to therefore become a role model for small- and medium enterprises in Vietnam,” he added.

Tanner Vietnam is a part of a growing group of companies who provide vital support to drive the global corporate sustainability movement forward.

The first German firm and the eighth firm in Vietnam awarded the Green Office certificate by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Vietnam in August 2010, Tanner Vietnam has successfully implemented an accredited environmental and energy management plan in the workplace.

In 2013, Tanner Vietnam won The Green Environment for the Country award presented by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment for the activities the company has implemented to maintain its involvement in global environmental protection and preservation and the community development.

Tanner has also designed and built a rooftop garden at their office building in Ho Chi Minh City’s Phu Nhuan district as an initiative to reduce their CO2 footprint and contribute to a healthy urban environment.

The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption efforts.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon once described the UN Global Compact as becoming a critical platform for the United Nations to engage effectively with enlightened global business.
