Lao delegation attends CLV meeting in Cambodia

A Lao delegation attended the ninth meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee of a Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Development Triangle Area in Siem Reap, Cambodia last month.

The meeting was led by the Minister of Planning and Investment Mr Somdy Douangdy and high ranking officials from concerned sectors and the four southern provinces of Champassak, Saravan, Attapeu and Xekong.

The officials spoke highly of the progress of the implementation of the revised Master Plan for the Development Triangle area from 2010-20, especially infrastructure development including road improvements, the construction of schools and hospitals, according to the media release.

The ministers signed the central minutes of the 8th summit of CLV Development Triangle area, which will be held the end of this year in Laos, in cooperation with development partners and international financial institutes.
They stressed the significance of further strengthening team-work among the three countries on a number of issues, including security, culture, education, health and the environment, as a grant to progressing peace, confidence and development in the triangle area.

The participating delegations highly valued the outcomes of an array of CLV meetings held over the period from September 9-11, including the 7th Assembly on Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion, 7th assembly of a CLV Security and Foreign Affairs Sub-committee, 7th Assembly of an Economic Affairs Sub-Committee, the 5th meeting of the Social and Environmental Sub-committee, 6th Meeting of the Provincial Coordination Sub-committee and the 9th Senior Officials Meeting.

The meeting participants also agreed to organise the 10th Joint Coordination Committee of CLV in 2015 in Champassak province, Laos.
