Private bank sees continued good growth in years ahead

Lao Construction Bank (LCB), a privately owned joint venture between local and foreign investors, is confident that its business will continue to grow steadily if the increasing number of depositors opening accounts with them is anything to go by.

A senior representative of the bank spoke about the bank's past achievements in Laos at last Sunday's lucky draw party, saying that it was almost three years since the bank's inception and that its customers have learned they can place their trust with them.

According to a bank release, LCB was able to fully operate its banking system in 2012. Since their opening until late 2013, the number of deposit accounts rose by 43 percent and in the first six months of this year has gone up again by a further 52 percent.

LCB is targeting the provision of capital to investors, businesspeople and merchants on short, medium and long-term loans.

LCB is currently holding loans amounting to 290 billion kip which, compared to 2012, is equivalent to a 124 percent increase.

During the lucky draw event, Mr Sone-Akhom Chommany, a local businessman from Phonsavanh Tai village in Sisattanak district, Vientiane won the first prize of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado VXL, while the second prize was a Hyundai Accent Blue and third prize was a Suzuki Celerio. Other smaller prizes were also distributed to the winners.

Attending the event were Deputy Head of the Bank of the Lao PDR Office, Mr Phouvieng Sengdavong, LCB Chairman for Management and Inspection, Mr Yuhao Aixingjialo, LCB Vice Chairperson of the Boards of Management, Ms Bounmy Thepphavong and other senior banking personnel.
