Shares fall further in morning trading

Shares tumbled further on both the national stock exchanges this morning, as the sell-offs continued.

 

The VN-Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange slid 12.48 points, or 2.21 per cent, to end at 552.37 points.

With most of the blue chips posting losses, the VN30-Index, which tracks the southern bourse's largest shares by capitalisation and liquidity, declined by 2.13 per cent to end at 601.29 points.

Only the Masan Group (MSN) managed to gain this morning, while two other stocks closed at their reference prices.

Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), FPT Group (FPT) and Vinamilk (VNM) were among the losers.

During the morning trading, more than 50.3 million shares, worth VND792 billion, or $37.7 million, were exchanged.

On the Ha Noi Exchange, the HNX-Index dropped 2.94 per cent to close at 75.09 points, while the HNXFF-Index lost by 3 per cent to end at 75.68 points.

The HNX30-Index closed this morning 3.98 per cent lower at 146.5 points.

With 40 million shares changing hands, the trading value was VND359 billion, or $17.1 million.
