Shares close mixed in morning trading

Shares closed mixed this morning, advancing on the HCM City Stock Exchange while declining on the Ha Noi Exchange.

 

The VN-Index added 1.52 points or 0.28 per cent to end at 545.4 points, while the HNX-Index lost 0.38 per cent to finish at 75.27 points.

Although the losers outnumbered the gainers by 13 to 8, the VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of the southern bourse's top 30 stocks by capitalisation and liquidity, managed to gain 0.02 per cent to close this morning at 596.94 points.

PetroVietnam Low-Pressure Gas Distribution (PGD) slid 16 per cent to end at VND33,400, or $1.59, per share.

Vinamilk (VNM), Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and the Hoa Phat Group (HPG) were among the losers.

More than 78.6 million shares changed hands this morning, worth VND1.2 trillion or $57 million.

With more than 52.2 million shares traded on the Ha Noi Exchange this morning, the trading value reached VND435.7 billion or $20.7 million.

The HNX30-Index, comprising the capital city's top stocks, closed 0.99 per cent lower at 149.77 points.
