Cash flow helps lift local markets

Market rallied yesterday. Strong liquidity was reported on both national stock exchanges.

 

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, about 125.5 million shares changed hands for a total value of VND1.766 trillion (US$84.09 million), marking the return of speculative cash.

The VN-Index jumped 0.61 per cent to 511.62 points, successfully exceeding the strong resistance band of 505-510 points.

The VN30-Index, tracking the southern city's top shares by capitalisation and liquidity, gained 0.5 per cent to hit 571.71 points. Gainers overwhelmed losers by 18-7.

PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (PVT) rose VND800 ($0.038) to the ceiling price of VND12,400 ($0.59) per share.

REE Corporation (REE) surged 4.2 per cent to VND29,600 ($1.4) per share. Real estate giant Vingroup (VIC), Vinamilk (VNM) and Masan Group (MSN) earned VND1,000 ($0.049) per share each yesterday.

Other gainers included insurance company Bao Viet Group (BVH), technology company FPT Group (FPT), Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Hoa Sen Group (HSG), Ocean Group (OGC) and Military Bank (MBB).

However, PetroVietnam Drilling (PVD) lost VND1,000 ($0.049) to sell at VND63,000 ($3) per share.

Vietinbank (CTG), Vinh Son-Song Hinh (VSH), PetroVietnam General Services (PET), Eximbank (EIB), Da Nang Rubber Corporation (DRC) and PetroVietnam Fertiliser and Chemicals Corporation (DPM) lost VND100 ($0.0049) or VND200 ($0.0095) per share each.

According to FPT Securities, increases in blue chips supported the benchmark indices to advance yesterday. In addition, the mid-cap and penny groups also witnessed recoveries.

Overall, on the southern bourse, 163 codes managed to increase while 65 codes lost.

On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index advanced 0.78 per cent to reach 65.64 points and the HNXFF-Index, including stocks with a minimum free-float rate of 5 per cent, edged up 0.76 per cent to reach 64.69 points on the second day.

With more than 43.36 million shares traded, the total value reached VND334.25 billion ($15.92 million).

The HNX30-Index, consisting of the capital's largest shares, picked up 1.08 per cent to reach 124.23 points.
