China-Asean expo bolsters business ties
Nanning, Guangxi province: The CAEXPO not only facilitates the 10+1 cooperation between China and Asean but also the whole world, creating a bridge that links China and Asean with other economies, a senior expo organiser said on Tuesday.
Speaking at the Business Networking Conference, the Vice Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr Chen Gang, said the expo had a vital role to play in driving forward the expansion of the grouping from 10+1 to 10+6 cooperation.
The conference was part of the 10th China-Asean Expo and China-Asean Business and Investment Forum taking place here this week.
The CAEXPO Secretariat had allocated 37 exhibition booths for businesses from Australia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, India and other non-Asean countries so as to bring the benefits of regional economic integration to more countries, the Vice Governor said.
“Companies from these countries are taking an active part in the expo and Australia in particular has even dispatched a high-profile business delegation here,” he added.
During the four-day exhibition, leaders and entrepreneurs from China and Asean are exchanging ideas at the Business Networking Conference with a focus on the theme “Opening up for cooperation, sharing prosperity”.
In his address at the conference Mr Chen said discussions aimed to facilitate the development of the China-Asean Free Trade Area.
The China-Asean Entre preneurs' Association, which was inaugurated at this session, will serve as a new link for interaction between the two sides.
The official launch of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Negotiation between Asean and China, Australia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, India and New Zealand has propelled th e China-Asean Free Trade Area forward on its track to a higher level of integration.
“The successful convening of this conference will promote the exchange and cooperation between China-Asean business circles and those beyond this region, and further uplift the trade and economic effect of the expo,” Mr Chen said.
Also present at the conference were the Secretary General of the CAEXPO Secretariat, Mr Zheng Junjian, Deputy Secretary-General of the CAEXPO Secretariat, Mr Huang Yuan, and business delegates from China, the 10 Asean countries, Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India and other countries.
