China-Asean Expo marks 10th anniversary
Nanning, Guangxi province, China : Awards were presented and unique fashions shown off at a commemorative function to mark the 10th anniversary of the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) here yesterday.
The event celebrated the growth in trade and bilateral cooperation between China and Asean member states since CAEXPO launched in 2004.
Under the theme ‘one decade of joint efforts, a start for future prosperity', the CAEXPO Secretariat and Organising Committee recognised key supporters from both the public and private sectors over the last decade.
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Vice Governor, Mr Zhang Xiaoqin, said over the past decade cooperation between participating countries had yielded fruit through the surge in the value of trade.
Mr Zhang said many people had done a lot to promote the expo – particularly the heads of state of China and Asean member states, the CAEXPO Secretariat, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and its Asean counterparts, and other relevant bodies.
“People from all walks of life have created successful achievements in trade and bilateral cooperation between the two sides,” he said.
Awards were handed out for most outstanding exhibitors, best trade visitors and in other categories.
Media representatives and journalists from a number of organisations were awarded for their contributions to the promotion of the expo since 2004.
Vientiane Times was recognised for its work in promoting CAEXPO in the Lao media.
Vientiane Vice Mayor, Dr Anouphab Tounalom, accepted an award on behalf of the Vientiane authorities for their efforts in producing the city's pavillion, while a number of other Lao officials and exhibitors will be returning home with trophies for their work.
