Shares keep going down

Stocks continued to slide during this February 1 morning's session.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index lost 1.12 per cent to reach 474.40 points.Trading was lower than yesterday morning, with only 47 shares managing to post gains.

Blue chip stocks including insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Gemadept Logistic (GMD), Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ), Refrigeration Electric Engineering (REE) and property developer Vingroup (VIC) were among the gainers.

The VN30, tracking the exchange's best stocks, dropped 1.28 per cent to 556.81 points.

Trading volume fetched VND521.25 billion (US$24.8 million) on a volume of 36.4 million shares.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also fell nearly 0.7 per cent to 62.21 points.

Losers overwhelmed gainers 113-48.

Only 28.6 million shares changed hands for a meagre trading value of VND226 billion ($10.7 million).
