Shares close up over last Friday

Shares extended value on both national stock exchanges this January 28 morning.

The benchmark VN-Index rose over 3 per cent to 482.16 points as nearly 64 per cent of "component" shares on the HCM City Stock Exchange increased.

The total trading value remained high at VND1.1 trillion (US$52.3 million) on a volume of 69.65 million.

The VN30, tracking the city's 30 leading shares in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, grew 3.03 per cent to 563.87 points.

Among the blue chips, only PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) closed unchanged, while 29 others added value, including insurer Bao Viet (BVH), Eximbank (EIB), steelmaker Hoa Sen Group (HSG), Refrigeration Electric Engineering Co (REE) and Vinh Son-Song Hinh (VSH), hitting their ceiling prices.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 2.35 per cent over last Friday's close to reach 63.06 points.

Advancers outnumbered decliners by 123-64.

Around 60.3 million shares changed hands, totaling a combined trading value of VND460.9 billion ($21.9 million).

The HNX30 also put on 3.7 per cent to 123.16 points.

Trading will resume at 1pm.
