Shares post modest gains

Shares rebounded during this October 5 morning's session on both national stock exchanges.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index added 0.47 per cent to reach 386.30 points.

However, trading was sluggish. Market value declined 14.6 per cent over yesterday morning's level to just VND184.1 billion (US$8.7 million). The volume of trades reached 12.2 million shares.

The VN30, representing the southern bourse's 30 top shares, gained 0.33 per cent to hit 451.11 points – thanks to the advance of 21 listed blue chips.

On the Ha Noi Stock exchange, the HNX-Index also rose 0.37 per cent, standing at 54.37 points.

Although the value of trades improved by 34.5 per cent to VND68.58 billion ($3.2 million), it was a very low level.

The HNX30, tracking the exchange's best stocks, finished this morning at 100.61 points, a 0.3 per cent increase.
