Stocks rocket on bargain hunting

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index jumped a third day on July 13 as investors took advantage of a new wave, combing shares heavily.

Shares of 301 companies and six mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange soared 2.02 percent, or 8.26 points, to close at 416.98 points.

Among the index members, 220 accelerated, 50 retreated, while 37 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse improved by nearly 28 percent in volume, and by 15.5 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 55.74 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND763.71 billion.

Tan Tao Investment Industrial Joint Stock Company (ITA) was the most active share in volume for a second day with 3.58 million shares changing hands.

Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) ran after with 2.85 million shares.

Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) tailed after with 2.45 million shares traded.

Thong Nhat Rubber Joint Stock Company (TNC), Tu Liem Urban Development Joint Stock Company (NTL), Tai Nguyen Corporation (TNT), and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 (TV1) all surged 5 percent to close at VND16,800, VND21,000, VND4,200, and VND6,300 respectively.

South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG) extended its winning run to eight consecutive trading sessions, strengthening 4.98 percent to close at VND21,100.

Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) rose 4.96 percent to close at VND12,700.

Ben Tre Forestry & Aqua Product Import Export Joint Stock Company (FBT) dropped 4.88 percent to close at VND11,700.

Viettronics Tan Binh Joint Stock Company (VTB) and Lilama 18 Joint Stock Company (LM8) demolished 4.76 percent to close at VND8,000, and VND10,000 respectively.

Duc Thanh Wood Processing Joint Stock Company (GDT) fell for seven consecutive trading sessions, paring 4.48 percent to close at VND12,800.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – hopped 9.24 points, or 1.91 percent, to end at 492.36. Among its 30 members, 27 stocks rallied, 2 weakened, and 1 remained unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north enlarged 1.8 percent, or 1.25 points, to close at 70.57 points with 238 winners, 34 losers, and 40 stocks treading water. Around 57.04 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND493.11 billion.

HNX 30 Index - the price index of top 30 stocks calculated based on free float adjusted market capitalization – ascended 2.76 percent, or 3.61 points, to finish at 134.53 points.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares restored 1.13 percent, or 0.41 points, to close at 36.7 points. A total of 338,375 shares changed hands at VND1.91 billion.
