Shares manage gains in HCM City but fail in Ha Noi

Shares managed to close in the green on the HCM City exchange this  June 5 morning but failed on the Ha Noi bourse. Market values both halved compared to yesterday morning's levels.

The VN-Index stood at 416.69 points by the end of this morning, up just 0.01 per cent over yesterday's close after sliding most of the trading time.

Value of trades reached nearly VND593 billion (US$28.2 million) on a volume of more than 35 million shares.

Advancers outnumbered decliners by 116-91, led by blue chips. Over half of the top 30 shares by value and liquidity posted meek gains of just under 1 per cent each. The VN30 Index thus rose just 0.21 per cent to 493.93 points.

The second largest share yet to be concluded in the VN30 basket, PV Gas (GAS), tumbled 0.8 per cent to VND35,300 ($1.68).

Tan Tao Investment Industry Corp (ITA) led trades this morning with 1.5 million shares changing hands, closing unchanged at VND7,100 a share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index lost another 0.18 per cent to finish this morning at 72.38 points as losers still edged gainers up 82-74.

Market volume and value was sluggish with just 18.8 million shares worth almost VND190 billion ($9 million) shares traded.

Shares of VNDirect Securities (VND) were the most active on a trade of nearly 1.2 million shares, rising 0.9 per cent to a close of VND11,000 ($0.52) each.
