Cambodia approves $5.92 billion fixed-asset investment projects from January to September
Cambodia secured $5.92 billion in fixed-asset investment approvals during the first nine months of the year, marking a surge in economic activity, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) said yesterday. Between January and September, the CDC greenlit 382 investment projects projected to generate about 217,000 new jobs across the country.

While the industrial sector remains the primary driver of investment, the CDC noted accelerating growth in other key areas, including agriculture and agro-industry, tourism, and infrastructure.
“This indicates the continued diversification of investment activities in Cambodia and demonstrates strong investor confidence in the country’s business environment,” the CDC said in a press release.
Ministry of Commerce Secretary of State and Spokesperson Penn Sovicheat attributed the influx of foreign direct investment to Cambodia’s expanding trade network, noting key drivers such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement and bilateral free trade agreements with China, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates.
Sovicheat said the fresh capital inflows will introduce advanced technologies, boost local productivity and create critical employment opportunities for the Cambodian people.
