Six more fuel distributors to begin blending E10 gasoline

Six additional fuel wholesalers are expected to begin blending and mixing E10 biofuel gasoline this month, boosting the country's supply capacity.

At present, eight licensed fuel wholesalers are authorised to blend biofuel gasoline.

With a total of 14 major wholesalers participating, the country's capacity to supply E10 gasoline is expected to improve significantly.

After one month of the nationwide E10 rollout, Đặng Tất Thành from the Agency for Innovation, Green Transition and Industry Promotion under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) said the transition had proceeded on schedule, with the market remaining stable and no supply disruptions reported.

Nationwide biofuel gasoline consumption had reached approximately 980 million litres as of June 28, including 924 million litres of E10 and 56 million litres of E5. E10 accounted for more than 96 per cent of total biofuel gasoline consumption.

"This is a very encouraging figure, demonstrating that the transition has progressed rapidly and that consumers have accepted E10 as a conventional fuel," Thành said.

All fuel retail stations across the country are now selling E10 gasoline. Major fuel distributors Petrolimex and PVOIL, together with 24 fuel wholesalers, are supplying E10 nationwide. Meanwhile, 11 of the country's 26 licensed wholesalers continue to offer E5 gasoline to meet consumer demand.

MoIT is also developing the Around Me mobile application, which will enable consumers to locate around 1,500 filling stations nationwide that continue to sell E5 gasoline.

Thành said the first month of E10 implementation had demonstrated a stable market, secure supply and broad public acceptance of biofuel as an everyday transportation fuel.
