Long An port becomes first Vietnamese company to win Asia-Pacific smart green award

Long An International Port in the southern province of Tây Ninh has become the first Vietnamese enterprise to receive the “Smart Green Port Company of the Year 2026” award from US-based market research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan under its Asia-Pacific Best Practices Awards 2026.

The recognition marks a significant milestone for Việt Nam’s maritime industry as it advances the development of smart, green ports and sustainable logistics.

Speaking on July 9, Võ Quốc Huy, chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Long An International Port, said the award was announced while the company was participating in the ASEAN Ports & Logistics 2026 Conference and Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

He said the award reaffirmed the growing position of Vietnamese seaports in the global trend toward digital transformation and modern logistics.

As global supply chains increasingly embrace digitalisation, carbon reduction and environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards, technological innovation and effective governance have become key benchmarks for evaluating the competitiveness of seaports. Frost & Sullivan’s recognition reflects the port’s efforts to integrate into global supply chains and pursue sustainable logistics development.

The company has developed an integrated digital ecosystem linking enterprise management and port operations through platforms including SAP S/4HANA, Terminal Operating System (TOS), E-Port and Warehouse Management System (WMS). The system connects port terminals, warehouses, transport services and customers, helping improve operational efficiency, increase transparency and optimise logistics operations.

Alongside digital transformation, the port has implemented a range of green initiatives, including rooftop solar power systems, electrification of cargo-handling equipment, the use of electric cranes and energy-saving technologies, contributing to Vietnam’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.

During the ASEAN Ports & Logistics 2026 Conference and Exhibition, held from July 7 - 9, representatives of Long An International Port presented its Smart Green Port model and shared experience in digital transformation and the development of an integrated port-industrial-logistics ecosystem.

At the exhibition, the company also showcased its 1,935-ha integrated ecosystem combining seaport, industrial, urban, service and logistics infrastructure. Strategically located to connect HCM City, the Mekong Delta and international shipping routes, the model is designed to optimise cargo flows, reduce logistics costs and improve supply chain efficiency.
