AEON Vietnam opens 'supersize' supermarket in Đà Nẵng

The inauguration marks an important step in AEON's business network expansion strategy, bringing quality products and services closer to consumers.

AEON Vietnam has officially opened AEON Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê, it's fifth major 'supersized' supermarket nationwide and first in central Việt Nam.

The inauguration marks an important step in AEON's business network expansion strategy, bringing quality products and services closer to consumers.

The AEON MALL Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê features a total floor area of nearly 30,000sq.m and offers food stores, entertainment services, restaurant system, cinema and relaxing spaces.

Tezuka Daisuke, Executive Officer and Chief Việt Nam Business Officer of AEON company (Japan) said: "Đà Nẵng City, as a municipality directly under the central government, plays a role as a strategically key area. We are extremely proud to officially open the first AEON store.

"AEON is proud to be a retailer trusted by customers for our outstanding product quality and services. We believe that AEON Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê will contribute to elevating the lifestyles of the city's residents by providing a modern shopping experience alongside reliable products and services.”

He added that the Japanese company first studied Việt Nam's market in 2008 before launching a base in HCM City.

“We have included a five-year strategic plan on the development of Việt Nam as a key regional market – where will host 60 per cent of total investment in ASEAN," he said.

"We decided to expand business scale to three times as much as current investment amount in Việt Nam by 2030."

Đà Nẵng, a central-run city, will be set as a key driving force for the company’s central Việt Nam strategic plan after operating a series of bases in Hà Nội and HCM City as well as the other big cities.

The launch of AEON Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê not only expands AEON's presence in the central region but also affirms its strong commitment to accompanying local development, elevating the lifestyles of residents, creating more jobs, stimulating consumption, and contributing to local socio-economic development.

Ohno Keiji, President and CEO of AEON Mall Company, said the introduction of the AEON Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê marked an important milestone of the company’s long-term growth strategy, and a strongly commitment in serving customers and community in central Việt Nam.

AEON Mall Company is currently operating eight trading centres in Việt Nam including AEON Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê, he said.

Isobe Daisuke, general director of AEON Mall Việt Nam, said another Aeon Mall style project has been designed in Hòa Xuân eco-urban zone as the regional centre with investment scale as much as 3.5 times to the AEON Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê.

He also said various Vietnamese products have been exporting to the other AEON Malls in Japan market as well.

The Japanese company will be co-operating with local suppliers for sale of made-in-Việt Nam product at AEON Mall system in central Việt Nam.

The Head of the Consulate General of Japan, Mori Takero, stressed that the debut of AEON Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê not only contributes to the city’s socio-economic development, but helps strengthen the closer friendship between Việt Nam and Japan.

Vice chairman of the city’s people’s committee, Hồ Kỳ Minh, highly appreciated AEON Mall Việt Nam as a typical effective model of investment in the city.
