Following the successful rollout of VIETQRGlobal payments with China, SACOMBANK continues to reinforce its role as a pioneering bank by partnering with the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) to enable cross-border QR payments between Việt Nam and South Korea.

This marks a new milestone in SACOMBANK’s strategy to expand its digital payment ecosystem across East Asia.

VIETQRGlobal has been developed to meet the growing demand for cross-border payments, aiming to build a modern, secure, and convenient payment infrastructure. In this phase, the service is deployed under the 'Vietnam inbound' model, allowing South Korean visitors traveling to Việt Nam to use their local Purple GLN payment app to scan VIETQRGlobal codes, view real-time exchange rates on their mobile devices, and make payments across a wide acceptance network nationwide.

From shopping malls and retail outlets to restaurants, hotels, and tourist destinations, South Korean visitors can enjoy seamless cashless payments without the need to carry cash or exchange currency. Merchants receive funds instantly upon successful transactions.

Payments are processed quickly and securely under stringent security standards, while also helping users save time and reduce costs.

The expansion of this payment method also creates opportunities for Vietnamese retailers, household businesses and enterprises to better reach international customers, while benefiting from attractive incentives when installing SACOMBANK POS terminals.

A SACOMBANK representative said: “We have already established two-way VIETQRGlobal payment connectivity with Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. As part of our development roadmap, in 2026, SACOMBANK and NAPAS will complete the ‘Vietnam outbound’ connection with China and South Korea.

"This will allow SACOMBANK NAPAS cardholders to integrate their cards into SACOMBANK PAY and scan QR codes for payments at partner merchants in these countries. We are also exploring expansion into other potential markets such as Singapore and India.”

With its advanced technology platform and extensive network, SACOMBANK expects VIETQRGlobal to be rapidly adopted across retail and service points nationwide, fostering the expansion of cashless payments and supporting economic and tourism growth between Việt Nam and its partner countries.
