Vietnam Airlines Group boosts holiday capacity to over one million seats

The figure represents a 15.5 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2025, as the aviation industry continues to grapple with high fuel costs while striving to maintain stable operations.

Vietnam Airlines Group, which includes Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO, will offer nearly 1.12 million seats on domestic and international routes during the peak travel period for Hung Kings Commemoration Day and the Reunification Day–International Workers’ Day break from April 30 to May 1.

The figure marks a 15.5 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2025, as the aviation industry continues to navigate high fuel costs while striving to maintain stable operations.

During the peak period, the group expects to operate nearly 5,500 flights across its domestic and international network.

On domestic routes, more than 3,800 flights will be operated, providing over 730,000 seats, up 13.3 per cent in flight frequency and 16 per cent in seat capacity year-on-year. Additional capacity will be focused on high-demand routes linking major economic hubs and popular tourist destinations.

Seat supply on key trunk routes connecting Hà Nội, HCM City and Đà Nẵng is expected to rise by nearly 30 per cent compared with regular schedules, while the busy Hà Nội–HCM City route alone will see a 12 per cent increase.

Services to major tourism hotspots will also be expanded. Flights from Hà Nội and HCM City to Nha Trang and Phú Quốc will increase by nearly 20 per cent, while routes to Huế and Quy Nhơn will see average growth of more than 5 per cent.

On the international network, airlines under the group plan to operate nearly 1,700 flights, offering close to 390,000 seats, up 13.4 per cent in flights and 14.4 per cent in seat capacity compared with the same period last year.

Nguyễn Quang Trung, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, said travel demand typically surges during major holidays such as Hùng Kings Commemoration Day and the Reunification Day–May Day break.

“Vietnam Airlines has proactively arranged resources, increased flight frequency and adopted flexible operations to meet passenger demand while maintaining both domestic and international connectivity,” he said.

The airline added that it will continue monitoring market demand to adjust operations accordingly, ensuring safe and stable services. Passengers are advised to book and issue tickets early to secure preferred itineraries during the peak travel period.
