The Association of Vietnam Retailers and the US National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hà Nội aimed at promoting Vietnamese exports into US convenience store chains.

The MoU for the 2026-30 period focuses on sustainable retail development, deeper international integration, enhanced industry capacity and strengthened bilateral ties in the retail sector.

Under the agreement, the two associations will cooperate to share management experience and improve the operation of modern retail systems. The partnership will also cover human resources training, governance capacity building, digital transformation, technology application and innovation and trade and investment promotion.

The MoU places emphasis on green and sustainable retail development, reflecting growing consumer demand for transparency and environmentally friendly business models.

Notably, the two associations will support Vietnamese enterprises in exporting to US convenience store networks and assist petrol retailer Petrolimex in developing an integrated model of fuel stations, electric vehicle charging points and convenince stroes to improve revenue and profitability.

President of the Association of Vietnam Retailers Trần Phương Lan said that the convenience store model plays an important role in meeting modern consumer demand for convenience, transparency and sustainability.

VIệt Nam is a dynamic market with rapid urbanisation, a young population and increasingly diversified consumption demand, while the US has one of the world’s most advanced retail industries, Lan said, stressing that the signing of the agreement opens opportunities for manufacturing, distribution and retail businesses in both countries.
