Nghi Sơn Refinery and Petrochemical LLC (NSRP) will maintain operations at 120–125 per cent of design capacity in the first quarter of 2026 to ensure adequate fuel supply during the peak Tết (Lunar New Year) period.

The refinery in Thanh Hóa Province is expected to supply around two million tonnes of petroleum products to the domestic market before, during and after Tết 2026 (The Year of Horse) .

NSRP said safety and operational stability remain its top priorities as it runs at high capacity. The company has strengthened monitoring and technical controls, while arranging full staffing – including management, operations, maintenance and safety personnel – to ensure uninterrupted production throughout the holiday.

Long-term crude oil supply contracts, including agreements with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), have secured stable input for the refinery. Monthly and quarterly delivery plans have been closely coordinated to guarantee continuous feedstock supply.

NSRP said it has also prepared contingency plans to source additional crude from the market if necessary.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has meanwhile instructed fuel wholesalers and distributors to proactively ensure sufficient supply nationwide during the Tết peak.

In an official document issued on February 9, the Agency of Domestic Market Management and Development urged traders to prepare appropriate supply plans and prevent local shortages, particularly in high-traffic areas such as HCM City, Đồng Nai Province and along the HCM City-Long Thành-Dầu Giây Expressway.

Retailers were required to maintain stable operations, avoid disruptions and ensure adequate staffing throughout the holiday to meet rising travel and transport demand.
