LSP opens doors to public to showcase safety, environmental commitment

Long Sơn Petrochemicals, a leading green petrochemical manufacturer, welcomed 100 residents of Long Sơn Commune in HCM City to its complex for the “LSP Open House 2025” with the theme “Environmental Protection and Safe Operation.”

They were joined by representatives of LSP and local authorities at the event last Saturday, which featured tours of key operational areas including the central control building of the olefins plant, the wastewater discharge point and the 24/7 emergency communication centre.

The event offered the community first-hand insights into LSP’s daily operations and its efforts to ensure safety, environmental protection and community well-being.

Siripan Artnonla, manufacturing director – downstream at LSP, said: “The LSP Open House 2025 is not only an opportunity for us to share information with our important neighbours, but also a chance to listen, connect and reaffirm our commitment to being a responsible and caring corporate citizen.

“We aim to work hand in hand with local authorities and communities for a safe, green and sustainable future of Long Sơn Commune.”

LSP has invested more than US$100 million in advanced technologies and digitalisation to strengthen operational safety and environmental protection.

These include low-pollution burners, a 24/7 online air monitoring system at furnaces and boilers and an advanced air quality monitoring system at fence lines.

To treat water before discharge, the company applies a double-protection wastewater treatment system with continuous online monitoring.

It has also installed the country’s first smokeless enclosure ground flare to reduce noise, smoke and flame impacts.

The emergency communication centre operates around the clock, while firefighting systems such as the big gun and foam tanker can spray more than 100 metres to effectively tackle even major tank fires.

Beyond meeting international standards in complex operations, LSP prioritises social contribution, working with authorities and partners to improve the quality of life in Long Sơn.

Its community engagement focuses on six areas: cultural preservation, environmental protection, safety, health and well-being, youth development, and economic prosperity.

This year, it collaborated with 39 partners for its “Sharing for Society” project to support initiatives to benefit local communities.

A subsidiary of SCG Chemicals, one of the key business units of SCG and a leading integrated chemical player in Southeast Asia, LSP is Việt Nam’s first integrated petrochemical complex with an annual capacity of 1.35 million tonnes of olefins and 1.4 million tonnes of polyolefins.
