Việt Nam's FPT Corporation signed strategic cooperation agreements with ABOV Semiconductor and Gachon University to advance semiconductor technology development and cultivate high-quality human resources on August 12.

The signing ceremony took place during the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum 2025, under the witness of General Secretary Tô Lâm, Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, and senior leaders from both nations.

Under the agreement, FPT and ABOV Semiconductor a leading Korean manufacturer of microcontroller and memory chips will collaborate on research, design, and development of next-generation semiconductor chips. The partnership aims to apply FPT-designed chips in the Korean market, execute joint R&D projects, and develop competitive products while pursuing flexible cooperation based on specific projects and needs. FPT also seeks to help build a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem in Korea, from human resources to services, for sustainable long-term growth.

In education, FPT University and Gachon University, one of Korea’s top institutions in IT and high technology will expand cooperation in student and faculty exchanges, joint training programs, academic research, and resource sharing. Gachon University is renowned for its expertise in semiconductors, data science, and AI, and has partnered with global tech giants such as Samsung, LG, and SK Hynix.

FPT University is a pioneer in Việt Nam in IT education, offering programs in AI, cybersecurity, software engineering, and semiconductor design that align closely with business needs and international standards.

Korea has been a key market for FPT since it established a presence there in 2016. The company now employs nearly 2,000 staff in Korea and Việt Nam, serving top Korean clients such as LG Electronics, LG CNS, Shinhan Bank, Daegu Bank, and Shinsegae I&C. FPT was ranked among Korea’s Top 200 technology companies by Gartner (2020–2021) and is the leading Vietnamese enterprise in both sales and workforce in the Korean market.

South Korea’s semiconductor industry, worth around US$87 billion in 2023, continues to grow with major investments from leading corporations, offering strong opportunities for this partnership.
