Cambodia implements zero tariff on US imports, excluding used goods

The Royal Government of Cambodia has formally announced the implementation of a zero per cent customs tariff on goods originating from the United States, in a move aimed at boosting bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The new measure, contained in a sub-decree signed by Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday, states in Article 1: “A customs tariff rate of 0% shall be applied to goods originating in the United States and imported into the Kingdom of Cambodia from the United States.”

However, the zero-tariff rate will not apply to used goods. Article 2 of the sub-decree makes this explicit: “The 0% customs tariff rate mentioned in Article 1 above shall not apply to used goods.”

According to Article 3, the Ministry of Economy and Finance will issue a proclamation to set out “the procedures for implementing the customs tariff rate on goods imported from the United States.”

The sub-decree also states in Article 4 that “any provisions contrary to this sub-decree shall be abrogated.”
