The Viettel Group has broken ground on its high-tech headquarters on the eastern bank of the Hàn River in Đà Nẵng, marking a strategic step in the company’s expansion in central Việt Nam.

The groundbreaking coincided with the city’s first day operating under its newly merged governance model, and the building is expected to be the most advanced tech office in Đà Nẵng upon completion.

Inspired by the letter 'V' - symbolising Viettel’s brand and spirit of innovation - the building will host core technology research, product testing and data centre operations and provide workspace for hundreds of engineers and tech experts.

Designed with green architecture in mind, the complex will feature vertical gardens, energy-efficient facades and environmentally friendly materials. The building will also open up to the surrounding urban landscape with public plazas and communal spaces.

Viettel plans for the site to become a regional tech ecosystem hub, focusing on telecommunications, IT, aerospace, AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing and more.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Tào Đức Thắng, Viettel’s Chairman and CEO, said the building would not only be an architectural landmark but also “a symbol of the aspiration for innovation and technological excellence, contributing to Đà Nẵng’s goal of becoming a regional economic, scientific, and cultural centre".

Alongside the new headquarters, Viettel is planning two additional key projects in Đà Nẵng: the ALC submarine cable landing station in Ngũ Hành Sơn, slated for Q3 2025, which will be Việt Nam’s sixth international cable route with a capacity of 18,000 Gbps; and a Tier 3-standard data centre in the Hò Khánh Industrial Park, expected to start construction in Q1 2026.

The Viettel Đà Nẵng building is scheduled for completion in June 2027, in time for the group’s 38th anniversary.
