Techcom Securities, a subsidiary of Techcombank, has announced a record profit before tax of over VNĐ1.73 trillion (US$66.3 million) for the second quarter of 2025, marking a 7.6 per cent increase from the same period last year.
This achievement represents the highest profit recorded by the company to date.
The financial report reveals that Techcom Securities (TCBS) generated total operating revenue of VNĐ2.69 trillion, up 20 per cent year-on-year. Notably, revenue from loans constituted the largest share of this income, amounting to VNĐ844 billion, or 31.3 per cent of total revenue.
Despite rising operational costs, including operating expenses up by 44 per cent, financial costs by 61 per cent and administrative expenses by 19.5 per cent, TCBS still managed to maintain profitability. The company's profit before tax of VNĐ1.73 trillion not only signifies growth but also establishes a new benchmark for the firm.
For the first half of 2025, TCBS reported cumulative operating revenue of nearly VNĐ4.7 trillion and a profit before tax of VNĐ3 trillion, both up by 9.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.
As of June 30, the securities firm's total assets reached more than VNĐ65.1 trillion, an increase of nearly VNĐ12 trillion since the beginning of the year.
On July 5, TCBS shareholders approved a plan to issue up to 231 million shares in an initial public offering (IPO), equivalent to 11.1 per cent of its capital. This move will raise the company's charter capital to VNĐ23.1 trillion from a previous VNĐ20.8 trillion, although the offering price has yet to be announced.
TCBS plans to allocate 70 per cent of the proceeds from the IPO to enhance its proprietary trading activities, which include investments in stocks and bonds. The remaining 30 per cent will be directed towards brokerage services, margin trading and advance payments for securities sales.
With these developments, TCBS is strategically positioned to capitalise on growth opportunities in Việt Nam's evolving financial market.
