Kingdom sees over 3.36 million foreign tourists in H1

The MoT report highlights that Thailand leads the list of tourist arrivals followed by Vietnam and China.

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) Saturday reported that Cambodia welcomed over 3.36 million international tourists in the first six months of 2025, marking a 6.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the MoT’s report, international arrivals from January to June 2025 came by air, land, and waterways. Of the total, more than 1.42 million visitors arrived by air through Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI), and Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS), while over 1.93 million arrived via land and waterways.

The report highlighted that Thailand led the list of international tourist arrivals to Cambodia in the first half of 2025, followed by Vietnam and China.

“Approximately 928,027 Thai nationals and 619,300 Vietnamese visited Cambodia during the January-June period, reflecting a decline of 2.8 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, Chinese tourist arrivals surged by 50.7 percent, reaching 586,771 visitors, and Lao PDR tourists arrived 118,014, declined 37.5 percent,” read the report.

The MoT added that both domestic and international visitors travelled to popular destinations such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap province, the coastal areas, and eco-tourism zones.

Chhay Sivlin, President of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, earlier told Khmer Times that the significant rise in foreign visitors signals a strong recovery for Cambodia’s tourism sector.

She noted that this growth reflects effective collaboration between the government, various ministries, and the private sector in promoting tourism. “Improved air connectivity, introduction of direct flights, and systems like automatic ticket machines have also enhanced convenience for tourists,” Sivlin added.
