Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant on track to complete expansion on schedule
Engineers are working day and night to complete expansion work at Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, with the first new turbine expected to be operational by the end of August.
The deadline is to connect the first unit with the national grid on August 19, while the second turbine must be hooked up in October.

The objectives of the projects are to increase the peak capacity of the national power system, maximise the annual excess water discharge during the rainy season to generate electricity, and improve the frequency control and frequency stabilisation capabilities of the national power system, contributing to reducing operating costs.
The project will also help reduce the workload on existing generators, thereby extending the life of equipment, saving maintenance and repair costs.
Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) is the investor of the expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, while the representative of the investor is EVN Power Project Management Board No.1.
