In the first half of 2025, Tien Giang’s economy continued to show strong momentum, with stable growth across all sectors. The province, part of the Mekong Delta region, recorded 528 newly established enterprises, marking a 16.1 per cent increase on-year and achieving 58 per cent of the annual target.
Estimated state budget revenue reached $306 million, equivalent to 72 per cent of the year’s projection and up 19.7 per cent on-year.
Investment attraction efforts also delivered notable results. The province welcomed 25 new projects – 19 more than in the same period last year – with registered capital totalling $188.4 million. In addition, 12 projects registered capital additions amounting to $83.4 million, bringing total investment inflows to $271.8 million.
Transportation infrastructure development also witnessed positive signs. Tien Giang has been closely coordinating with investors and project management boards to accelerate the progress of centrally funded projects such as the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge and a component of the Cao Lanh-An Huu Expressway.
Key provincial projects are also being fast-tracked, including components of provincial road 864, Bao Dinh riverside roads, and upgrades to other roads, which connect Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces.
Acknowledging both its responsibilities and emerging opportunities in this new context, Tien Giang People’s Committee has taken action to rigorously implement directives aimed at boosting economic growth. The province is striving to achieve double-digit growth this year, in line with national targets and key solutions to improve the business environment and enhance Vietnam’s competitiveness.
To materialise this goal, the People’s Committee outlined its plan as early as mid-January, with measures to fulfil directives from the government and provincial management authorities on achieving 2025 socioeconomic development targets.
There are several focus areas. In agriculture, Tien Giang is closely monitoring meteorological and hydrological trends, as well as the production conditions of various crops, to ensure efficient output during the autumn–winter and winter–spring 2025–2026 rice seasons.
Steps are also being taken to track livestock and aquaculture diseases, pests affecting rice and other crops, and to strictly implement anti-illegal fishing measures.
In industry, the province is addressing difficulties faced by enterprises, expediting site clearance, infrastructure investment, and investor attraction into various local industrial areas such as Tan Phuoc 1 and Binh Dong industrial parks, and Gia Thuan 1 and 2 clusters.
Trade promotion initiatives are being expanded to reach potential domestic and international markets, including facilitating business participation in fairs, exhibitions, and networking events both within and outside Vietnam.
Support for domestic firms in boosting agricultural and aquatic exports remains a priority, along with assistance for foreign-invested enterprises in fulfilling export orders.
The province continues to gather data on import–export activities and assess business performance to form future strategies. Implementation of solutions to support business development in 2025 is ongoing, alongside initiatives to improve the investment and business environment, promote administrative reform, support startups, convert household businesses into enterprises, and enhance overall competitiveness.
Public investment disbursement is another key priority. Local authorities are being urged to intensify oversight and remove obstacles to accelerate project implementation and the disbursement of public investment funds.
Coordination with central ministries is being strengthened, particularly in appraising two proposed initiatives funded by official development assistance: the first-phase coastal road passing through Tien Giang and connecting to Long An and Ben Tre provinces; and the World Bank-funded Climate Resilience and Integrated Transformation project. Timely resolution of issues during the execution of these public investment plans remains a top concern.
