Trump Organization to meet with Ho Chi Minh City leaders

The Trump Organization is scheduled for two high-level meetings this week with leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, according to the official agenda released by the city’s People’s Committee for May 19-25.

The meetings mark the next step in the group’s efforts to advance its investment plans in Vietnam, following the recent approval of a $1.5 billion resort complex in the northern Hung Yen province.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan is to conduct an on-site working session with representatives from the Trump Organization on May 19. Both Chairman Duoc and Vice Chairman Hoan will hold a formal meeting with the group’s senior leadership on May 22.

According to a statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the working delegation will be split into two groups.

The first, led by Charles James Boyd Bowman, project director of Trump International Hung Yen, will arrive in the city on May 19. The second, arriving on May 22, will be led by Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization and third child of US President Donald Trump.

The delegation is scheduled to survey the Thu Thiem area, the proposed site for a future Trump Tower project, and discuss potential development opportunities with city officials.

These meetings come shortly after the Trump Organization secured in-principle approval for a $1.53 billion urban and ecotourism complex in Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen.

The group first expressed interest in the project back in September, prior to Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election the following November.

At a recent meeting with Hung Yen authorities, Bowman expressed eagerness to accelerate progress, with the ambition of completing the project by March 2027, in time for Vietnam’s hosting of the APEC Summit. He stated the goal is to establish Vietnam’s leading golf destination and a globally recognised course.

The project will span over 990 hectares across seven communes in Khoai Chau district, bordered by the Red River to the north and west.

It will be divided into four main zones: an eco-residential area with a premium golf course, an eco-residential area with an ecological golf course, a commercial service urban zone, and a green park and thematic recreational area. The golf component alone will occupy over 240 hectares, with a total of 54 holes.

The project will operate under a 50-year licence, with implementation scheduled between the second quarters of 2025 and 2029.

The Trump Organization will develop the hotel, golf course, and residential components in partnership with Hung Yen Hospitality Services Co., a subsidiary of Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation (KBC), led by businessman Dang Thanh Tam. KBC specialises in urban and transportation infrastructure development.

This latest development further underscores the Trump Organization's growing interest in Vietnam, as the country continues to position itself as a destination for high-quality foreign direct investment and world-class projects.
