HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Industry and Trade has urged businesses and industry associations to provide data proving the compliance of Việt Nam’s major export products with the US requirements.

This is to support the ongoing government-level trade discussions. Exporters are required to provide documentation verifying product origin, quality and technical specifications that meet the US regulations.

The US is currently Việt Nam’s comprehensive strategic partner and the second largest export market of Việt Nam while Việt Nam is the eighth largest trading partner of the US.

The ministry said that Vietnamese export products do not directly compete with the US and most key export products comply with its technical requirements.

In anticipation of potential retaliatory tariffs from the US, the ministry is collecting opinions from relevant ministries, trade associations and businesses to support the negotiation towards maintaining the smooth flow of bilateral trade.

In the long term, the ministry urged firms to hasten restructuring toward green transformation, digital transition and innovation and technology – driven growth together with diversification of export markets.
