Meiko aims to complete the procedures for the expansion in the second quarter and finish the construction of the expanded facility in the fourth quarter.

According to Nikkei Asia's information, the expanded plant has a total investment capital of $340 million. The new factory in Hoa Binh will produce ultra-small, energy-efficient PCBs for the iPhone.

These products will meet the increasing technological demands of Apple's new artificial intelligence applications. Once finished, these products will be exported to India and serve the next assembly step, which is a part of Apple’s strategy to diversify the supply chain.

At present, the company is also accelerating the construction of a $200 million PCB manufacturing factory an industrial zone in Hoa Binh.

Meiko Electronics also aims to start producing products from the first factory in the second quarter. Key products of the first factory include electronic circuits for peripheral devices, computers, electronic home appliances, audiovisual equipment, solar cells, microprocessor chips, and controllers.

The first facility is expected to recruit 3,000 employees and contribute $8 million per year to the state budget.

Meiko first invested in Vietnam in 2006, with a factory in the suburban district of Thach That in Hanoi. At that time, it was one of the top 10 foreign-invested projects in the country.
