Digital leverage for Vietnamese gaming industry

The Gaming On TikTok Hanoi Summit 2025, held on April 24, showcased how the platform is supporting Vietnam's gaming community and driving growth in the local and global markets.

According to a report released at the conference, Southeast Asia has the highest global growth rate in mobile gaming, reaching 7.4 per cent per year from 2022-2025. Gaming industry revenue in Vietnam is projected to reach $1.66 billion this year and continue to grow steadily at 9.77 per cent annually, reaching $2.42 billion by 2029.

Digital leverage for Vietnamese gaming industry

The Gaming on TikTok Hanoi Summit 2025 took place on April 24, highlighting how digital platforms support game promotion

According to a report by Statista in 2024, mobile games, the most popular gaming format among Vietnamese people, are projected to generate $712 million in revenue in 2029.

Vietnam was also ranked by Bloomberg as one of the top five countries for mobile game production in 2023 among 4.2 billion global downloads, growing 2.5 times faster than the world average. This is clear evidence of the creativity, production capacity, and international potential of the Vietnamese gaming industry.

Do Viet Hung, vice president of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation and the president of the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association, stated that the Vietnamese gaming industry is undergoing a strong transformation, not only in terms of technology but also in how it approaches and connects with players.

"Utilising digital platforms to spread creative content and build communities is a strategic step. We highly appreciate the efforts of digital platforms, including TikTok, in bringing new solutions to help Vietnamese game publishers reach domestic players and expand regionally and internationally," Hung stated.

With its advantages in personalisation, a diverse creative community, and strong influence, TikTok is emerging as an ideal platform to help Vietnamese game publishers expand, enhance connections with players, and confidently conquer global markets.

According to the TikTok Marketing Science Global Gaming LiveOps Survey released in April 2024, 59 per cent of TikTok users have discovered new games through creative content on the platform, while 64 per cent of users have interacted with game content combined with music, lifestyle, and entertainment.

These figures show that TikTok has integrated games into the entertainment journey of individual users and popular culture as a whole.

By combining localised content with the ability to quickly grasp popular trends, this platform has helped “gamify” content naturally, turning gaming experiences into familiar stories intertwined with music, daily activities, and players' interests. As a result, game campaigns can easily connect with the community and achieve higher levels of engagement compared to traditional approaches.

"Vietnam is emerging as one of the leading creative hubs in the gaming industry in Southeast Asia. With a strong community of passionate game developers and government support, Vietnamese game publishers are creating successful games domestically and reaching international levels," said Maayan Kolter, head of global gaming growth at TikTok.
