​Vietnam, Tatarstan discuss stronger bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received R.N. Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation in Hanoi on Friday, where both leaders discussed enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including automotive manufacturing, information technology, and education.

During the meeting, PM Chinh recalled his October 2024 trip to Tatarstan for the 16th BRICS Summit, where he was impressed by the region’s dynamic growth and hospitality.

He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

PM Chinh praised the Tatarstan delegation’s recent engagements with Hanoi authorities and business communities, expressing confidence that Minnikhanov’s visit would advance ties between Tatarstan and various Vietnamese localities.

Minnikhanov outlined Tatarstan’s strengths and proposed cooperation in key industries such as artificial intelligence, IT, automotive manufacturing, civil aviation, chemicals, textiles, furniture, and education.

He also suggested launching a direct flight between Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan, and Hanoi to enhance connectivity and business exchanges.

In response, PM Chinh welcomed the proposals and encouraged Tatarstan to consider establishing a Kamaz truck manufacturing plant in Vietnam, citing strong demand in the local market.

PM Chinh called for more people-to-people exchanges and greater engagement with Vietnamese provinces.

Minnikhanov extended an invitation for PM Chinh to visit Tatarstan again at a convenient time in the future.
