Petrovietnam targets a 57.2% increase in investment disbursement for 2025

As 2025 marks the final year of Petrovietnam’s five-year business and investment plan, the group has set ambitious investment goals.

Petrovietnam aims to boost its investment disbursement by 57.2 per cent in 2025 compared to the previous year, with a strong focus on oil and gas exploration and production (E&P), alongside key sectors such as oilfield services, power generation, gas processing and petrochemicals.

According to Petrovietnam CEO Lê Ngọc Sơn, the group's investment performance has consistently improved in recent years, thanks to enhanced governance, decentralisation and increased autonomy for subsidiaries and project management units.

As 2025 marks the final year of Petrovietnam’s five-year business and investment plan, the group has set ambitious investment goals.

To meet these targets, executives and project managers are expected to view investment disbursement as a top priority and a key driver of growth. They have been directed to implement detailed action plans, set monthly and quarterly milestones and assign responsibilities to ensure smooth execution.

A major focus is on accelerating crucial projects, including the Block B-Ô Môn gas-power project, the Nhơn Trạch 3 & 4 power plants and the Dung Quất refinery expansion.

Leaders are tasked with advancing investment approvals, project designs, contractor selection and other necessary procedures for new projects.

Petrovietnam has also stressed the need for stronger on-site monitoring to ensure timely progress, proper capital allocation and quality assurance. Additionally, the company is working to streamline administrative processes and propose regulatory adjustments to facilitate investment activities.

Despite some challenges, Petrovietnam has maintained strict oversight of key projects.

Notably, the group launched an initiative on January 6 to accelerate the completion of the Long Phú 1 power plant in Sóc Trăng Province. On February 5, its Nhơn Trạch 3 power plant in Đồng Nai Province – Việt Nam’s first LNG-based facility – successfully connected to the national grid with an initial output of 50MW.
