The central province of Thanh Hoá marked the commencement of two large-scale projects at the Nghi Sơn Economic Zone on Monday, signalling a significant step in the region's industrial development.

The first project, the Đức Giang Nghi Sơn Chemical Complex, began construction on its initial phase, spanning 30ha in Tân Trường Commune, Nghi Sơn Town. With an investment of VNĐ2.4 trillion (nearly US$94 million), the first phase of the complex is scheduled to become operational by the first quarter of 2026.

The chemical complex will be developed in three phases, with a total capital investment of VNĐ12 trillion. Once completed, it is expected to be the largest facility of its kind in Việt Nam, boasting an annual production capacity of 151,000 tonnes of chemicals.
