Global searches for Vietnam tourism surge, highlighting its growing appeal to int’l visitors
Vietnam’s tourism industry is witnessing strong international interest, with global searches for travel to the country in the first half of February rising by 30-45 percent against the previous month, according to data from Google released by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Between late November 2024 and January 2025, searches for Vietnam’s accommodation options increased by 15-30 percent year on year.
Among the countries showing the most interest in Vietnam, the U.S. topped the list, followed by Australia and India.
The national tourism authority identified Australia and India as high-potential markets with significant room for expansion.
Other key source markets include Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the UK, and Canada.
The most-searched destinations in Vietnam are Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc, reflecting the growing popularity of urban and beach tourism.
Many travel operators saw this as a positive sign following Vietnam’s record-breaking year for tourism in 2024.
Nguyen Van Tuan, a hospitality provider in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, southern Vietnam, said that his business is focusing on sustainable tourism as an increasing number of foreign visitors, particularly from the U.S., prefer eco-friendly experiences.
“Our investments in green tourism will align with environmental conservation while catering to the evolving demands of global travelers," Tuan added.
Last month, Vietnam welcomed nearly 2.1 million international visitors, marking an 18.5-percent month-on-month increase and a 36.9-percent year-on-year rise.
This sets a new all-time record, surpassing the pre-pandemic peak of nearly two million arrivals in January 2020.
The national tourism authority attributed this growth to Vietnam’s relaxed visa policies, aggressive tourism promotions, and an enhanced global reputation.
The expanding variety of high-quality travel experiences--tailored to modern traveler preferences--has also played a crucial role in the industry’s rapid recovery.
To further boost international arrivals, the Vietnamese government has issued Resolution No. 11, granting visa exemptions to citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland from March 1 to December 31, 2025.
This policy aims to attract more European tourists, particularly from markets with growing outbound travel demand.
