TCE Vina Denim ties up with SP Group and Pebsteel to launch solar array
TCE Vina Denim, in collaboration with Singapore’s SP Group (SP), has launched a rooftop solar array at its factory in Nam Dinh. With a capacity of 5.2 megawatt-peak (MWp), this system was constructed and installed by Pebsteel.

The system went into operation on January 15, marking a new milestone in TCE Vina Denim’s sustainability journey. With this system, the company has been able to replace 15 per cent of fossil fuel energy used for its manufacturing and business activities with a renewable source. This will enable the company to offset 54,118 tonnes of carbon emissions annually – equivalent to planting 2.4 million trees. The initiative underscores TCE Vina Denim’s commitment to greening manufacturing practices to meet the sustainability requirements of export markets.
TCE Vina Denim is a South Korean company with a denim factory in Nam Dinh which has been operational since 2014. Its products are exported to major markets like the United States, the European Union, Japan, and South Korea. Since its inception in Vietnam, the company has adopted clean, green, and environmentally friendly manufacturing operations towards environmental protection and sustainable development. The factory features a wastewater treatment station with a capacity of 4,000 tonnes per day, a wastewater recycling system with a capacity of 1,500 tonnes per day, an exhaust gas and odour treatment system, and air conditioning and ventilation systems. In addition, priority is given to organic raw materials, recycled accessories, and recycled resources to promote the circular economy in manufacturing.
To further reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, TCE Vina Denim has converted all of its coal-fired boilers to biomass since 2024. This is coupled with the official launch of the rooftop solar power system. In the near future, the company will partner with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to increase the proportion of renewable energy for its manufacturing activities to at least 70 per cent by 2030, gradually reducing its use of fossil fuels. Such initiatives demonstrate the company’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment, contributing to Vietnam's net-zero emissions target by 2050.

Hwang Seung Tae, chairman of the board and general director at TCE Vina Denim, said, “We highly appreciate the partnership with SP Group and Pebsteel to install the rooftop solar power array. SP Group’s expertise helped to accelerate the progress, allowing the system to go operational four months ahead of schedule.”
“Meanwhile, Pebsteel is a capable and reputable contractor in the pre-engineered steel building industry and rooftop solar power projects. In the past, Pebsteel installed the dyeing and weaving workshops for TCE Vina Denim, which remain in good condition after 10 years of operation. With the latest project, Pebsteel has demonstrated its capabilities when implementing the rooftop solar power system with speed, quality, and safety,” he said.
Brandon Chia, managing director of Sustainable Energy Solutions in Southeast Asia and Australia at SP Group, stated, “Through this partnership with TCE Vina Denim, SP Group is committed to enabling the manufacturing industry to reduce carbon emissions and make the green energy transition. We look forward to bringing our suite of sustainable energy solutions and proven track record to help more customers to achieve energy and cost-savings, while lowering their carbon footprints, and contributing to Vietnam’s net-zero targets.”
Logaraju Thulasiraj, general manager of operations at Pebsteel, noted, “This is one of the largest rooftop solar power projects that Pebsteel has executed in Vietnam. The partnership with SP Group and TCE Vina Denim not only reinforces our position as a leading engineering, procurement, and construction contractor and developer, but also opens up extensive collaboration opportunities for the future. Besides economic gains, the project also demonstrates our technical capabilities and experience in renewable energy deployment.”
In the future, Pebsteel will scale up its portfolio of rooftop solar power projects across Vietnam. By incorporating rooftop solar power solutions at the warehousing design and construction stages, Pebsteel expects to optimise resources for its customers and create a competitive edge for them. Leveraging its strength, customer network, and experience in the pre-engineered steel building industry, Pebsteel is expected to accelerate the energy transition in key industries, including textiles, electronics, construction, steel, and manufacturing, thereby contributing to Vietnam’s sustainable development goals.
