Cambodia’s car tyre export up almost 130 pct in 2024
Cambodia recorded a 129.7 percent rise in the export of car tyres in 2024, said a General Department of Customs and Excise report on Monday.
The Southeast Asian country exported car tyres worth $874.6 million last year, an increase of 129.7 percent from $380.6 million in the year before, the report said.
Ministry of Commerce Secretary of State and Spokesperson Penn Sovicheat attributed this sharp growth in car tyre exports to the kingdom’s successful export promotion efforts.
“The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement and Cambodia’s bilateral free trade agreements with China, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates have provided us greater market access for made-in-Cambodia products,” he told Xinhua.
Currently, six car tyre manufacturing projects have been carried out in different special economic zones in Cambodia.
Meanwhile, the report also recorded the kingdom’s export of bicycles, including electric bicycles, worth $426.9 million last year, a year-on-year decrease of 12.8 percent.
