A trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the development of the Đà Nẵng International Financial Centre (Đà Nẵng IFC) has been inked at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The people’s committee and Concessor AG company, a Swiss strategic advisory firm focusing on internationalisation and market entry, and VinaCapital Group signed the understanding during the 55th annual meeting of WEF, marking the first positive move of the central city’s action programme to build an IFC in 2025.

The MoU was signed by the chairman of Đà Nẵng City, Lê Trung Chinh, former Vice Chancellor of Germany and founder of Consessor AG company, Philipp Rosler, along with Don Lam, CEO and founding partner of Vinacapital. It aims to boost research, investment promotions and human resources training for the establishment of the Đà Nẵng IFC.

According to MoU, Philipp Rosler, who is the Honorary Consul of Việt Nam to the Swiss, and Don Lam, will be in charge of researching conditions to lay the foundations for bringing an IFC to the city.

The first task will be promoting investment and calling strategic investors, investment funds and financial institutions for help in building the centre.

Philipp Rosler and Don Lam also agreed to help the city connect financial educational centres in Switzerland and other countries to build a bank of key workers to serve the future Đà Nẵng IFC.

The three partners stressed their united belief that, with the first ever IFC in the beach city, prosperous growth for the urban area would be assured for decades ahead.

While in Switzerland the leadership of the city also held working sessions and discussions with Swiss financial institutions including Bitcoin Suisse and the private Maerki Baumann bank.

Đà Nẵng and HCM City have been chosen by the Government as the locations for Việt Nam's international financial centres (IFCs).

At the Conference on Developing International Financial Centres in Việt Nam, hosted by Đà Nẵng, a series of MoUs were signed on educational cooperation and developing Đà Nẵng's IFC between partners including Makara Capital, Newtechco Group, Deutsche Bank Vietnam, United Overseas Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Terne Holdings, TMC Academy Singapore, Yuan Ze University in Taiwan (China), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and the Việt Nam Blockchain Association.
