ABeam Consulting introduces 'process mining' to Vietnam

ABeam Consulting is introducing advanced 'process-mining' technologies tailored for Vietnamese firms, addressing the complex challenges of digital transformation and helping businesses navigate the rapidly changing market dynamics.

Vietnam's economic landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, with digital technologies fundamentally restructuring logistics and supply chain management. The logistics sector is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 14.5 per cent until 2027. At the heart of this revolution lies process mining–an innovative approach that is quickly becoming a critical competitive differentiator for businesses navigating the complex emerging market.

Process mining represents a sophisticated technological approach that goes beyond traditional business analysis. Process mining provides deep, fact-based insights into the overall flow of business processes, helping organisations identify bottlenecks and uncover underlying causes of inefficiencies. This fact-driven methodology ensures that decisions are not swayed by vocal minorities advocating for changes with limited improvement value, allowing companies to focus on impactful and strategic enhancements.

Organisations are increasingly recognising the need for smarter operational strategies, especially in the context of digital transformation. The primary objectives of process mining are to create detailed process visualisations, enhance operational excellence, and enable real-time performance monitoring–all of which are crucial for maintaining competitiveness in today’s rapidly evolving business landscape. With advanced process mining technologies, ABeam Consulting helps organisations unlock business efficiency.

Vietnam's logistics sector faces significant operational complexities, including fragmented supply chain infrastructure, limited digital integration across systems, and a growing need for operational efficiency and transparency

"Process mining represents a quantum leap in operational optimisation," said Ly Nguyen, an expert on process mining at ABeam Consulting Vietnam. "We're not just implementing technology; we're reimagining how businesses understand and improve their operational ecosystems."

By leveraging 'Celonis' process mining technology, ABeam delivers comprehensive process visualisations with just a few clicks, timeline analysis for deeper operational insights, deviation-based recommendations for process improvement, and real-time monitoring for immediate action.

These capabilities enable actionable recommendations for achieving operational excellence, all grounded in the 'facts' revealed through process mining.

Starting with process mining is simpler than you might think–especially if your data is already in place. Within the first month, one can visualise and analyse the entire business processes, uncovering inefficiencies and bottlenecks. Once data is visualised, ABeam’s expertise and experience help deliver tailored solutions. ABeam doesn’t just stop at insights, the company assists in turning them into actionable operational improvements. This entire process can be completed in approximately three months.

One of ABeam’s use cases involves a Vietnamese firm preparing to expand by addressing inefficiencies in its Order-to-Cash (O2C) process. Using process mining tools, its operational data was analysed to identify potential issues that could hinder scalability as transaction volumes increase. A thorough survey identified 78 evaluation points, uncovering 24 issues within the O2C process. From these, 15 recurring issues were prioritised, with nine selected for detailed analysis and resolution. The insights helped pinpoint areas for automation and process optimisation, ensuring readiness for future growth.

"Process mining delivers transformative benefits, including end-to-end process visibility, identification of inefficiencies, and real-time monitoring. It empowers businesses with data-driven insights to streamline operations, optimise resource allocation, and enhance customer satisfaction. By uncovering root causes and enabling continuous process improvement, it supports digital transformation and operational excellence," said Yoshihiro Wake, lead consultant responsible for the global expansion of the Supply Chain Management business at ABeam Consulting.

Another technology is Object-Centric Process Mining (OCPM) and it is revolutionising the way businesses analyse and optimise their operations. Unlike traditional process mining, which typically focuses on isolated process blocks, OCPM offers a holistic approach that connects disparate stages using unique keys, providing deep, cross-functional insights.

One of ABeam's use cases comes from a manufacturing company facing challenges with excessive inventory, leading to inefficiencies in production and shipment processes. Using OCPM and stock movement analysis, ABeam uncovered key issues, including underutilisation of the MRP system, inefficient demand requests from the sales department, and last-minute orders causing delays in raw material procurement and production.

By visualising the imbalances in supply and demand, and uncovering bottlenecks across the supply chain, ABeam Consulting enabled the company to improve inventory management and enhance operational stability.

OCPM empowers organisations to identify the root causes of inefficiencies across departments, improving operational efficiency and decision-making. By providing end-to-end visibility and automating connections that were previously manual, this groundbreaking technology helps businesses address challenges, streamline processes, and unlock new levels of performance.

As Vietnam continues to position itself as a dynamic economic hub in Southeast Asia, technologies like process mining will become increasingly crucial. They represent more than just technological solutions–they are strategic tools for sustainable growth and global competitiveness. By bridging global technological expertise with local market insights, companies like ABeam Consulting are helping to reshape the future of business in this vibrant emerging market.
