Cambodia’s export up 16 pct in January-October of 2024

An official report released on Monday said Cambodia exported products worth $21.57 billion in the first 10 months of 2024, up 16 per cent from $18.59 billion in the same period last year.

The General Department of Customs and Excise report said the main exported items included garments, footwear, travel goods, bicycles, car tires, and potential agricultural produce such as rice, rubber, cassava, bananas, mangoes, and longans.

The report added that the top five export destinations for Southeast Asian nations are the United States, Vietnam, China, Japan, and Thailand.

Meanwhile, the report said the kingdom recorded a total import of $23.49 billion during the January-October period this year, up 17 per cent from $20.07 billion over the same period last year.

It added that key imported goods included petroleum, raw materials for garments, footwear and travel goods, vehicles, machinery, electronic appliances, and consumer products.

Ministry of Commerce’s Secretary of State and Spokesperson Penn Sovicheat said the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA) have injected momentum into the country’s trade growth.

“Both trade pacts have served as a catalyst for our long-term and sustainable trade growth,” he told Xinhua. “They are also a magnet to attract more foreign investors to Cambodia.” Xinhua
