​Vietnam, China exchange 10 cooperation deals

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang witnessed the exchange of 10 cooperation documents between ministries, agencies, and units of the two countries on Sunday, as part of the top Chinese leader’s visit to Vietnam.

Chinese Premier Li arrived in Hanoi on Saturday evening, starting an official visit to Vietnam through Monday next week at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart.

The cooperation deals are expected to deepen bilateral ties.

These deals include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport and China’s National Development and Reform Commission on technical solutions to the connection between Lao Cai Railway Station and Hekou North Railway Station, and an MoU on the feasibility study of the technical aid project for two planned standard gauge railway routes of Dong Dang - Hanoi and Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong between the ministry and the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

Two memoranda of understanding were exchanged between the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and the CIDCA on promoting a repair and maintenance project for the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace in Hanoi, as well as on the expansion of workforces for the ‘Global Development Initiative’ program.

Also, the two leaders witnessed the exchange of an MoU between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and the Ministry of Commerce of China on building a sustainable farm produce supply chain, another MoU between the two ministries on the establishment of a research team for Vietnam - China cross-border economic cooperation area models, and an action plan between the General Department of Vietnam Customs and the General Administration of Customs China for mutual accreditation of Vietnam’s Priority Enterprises Program and China’s Enterprise Credit Management Program.

The three remaining deals include an MoU between the Vietnam News Agency and the China Central Television, an MoU on comprehensive cooperation between the Vietnam National University-Hanoi and China’s Peking University, and an MoU between the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam and UnionPay International on the launch of cross-border payment services via QR codes.
