Trần Phú Lữ, director of the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of HCM City (ITPC), said the programme aims to showcase the province’s image, potential and strengths while enhancing cooperation and trade promotion activities between the Mekong Delta province and HCM City.
It would also assist businesses and cooperatives in the province to link up with distributors and businesses in the city, facilitating the consumption of their agricultural products that meet export standards and the province’s OCOP-certified products and key specialties, he said.
Hứa Trường Sơn, deputy director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said the event has attracted the participation of over 30 businesses and co-operatives from the province, who are showcasing more than 80 items, including the world-famous ST25 variety of rice, Vĩnh Châu purple onion, pía cake, sausages, various candies, sweet pickled radish, soursop tea, guava leaf tea, rice wine, honey, fish sauces, and other processed products, handicrafts, and fresh fruits such as grapefruit, breast milk fruit, cantaloupe, and sweet passion fruits.
He expressed confidence that the programme would achieve success.
Lữ said the city, the country’s economic spearhead, has co-operated with localities in the Mekong Delta, including Sóc Trăng, helping leverage their strengths to progress towards the goal of sustainable development for both sides.
In recent years, their socio-economic development cooperation programme has achieved positive results across spheres, he said.
The ITPC would coordinate with Mekong Delta provinces in general and Sóc Trăng in particular to organise trade and investment promotion activities, with a focus on promoting farm produce and OCOP, specialty and rural industrial items in the city, he added.
Organised by the ITPC and the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the event is being held at the Export Showroom at 92-96 Nguyễn Huệ Street in District 1 until October 13.
