Gov’t OKs software park expansion project in Da Nang

The head of the Vietnamese government on Tuesday approved the expansion of Da Nang Software Park, now called Da Nang Software Park No. 2, which spans an area of 28,573 square meters in Hai Chau District, Da Nang City, central Vietnam.

This software park will function as IT zones, as defined Government Decree No. 154.

Companies that invest in the software park and execute IT projects will benefit from incentives specified in Decree No. 154 and other laws.

Work on the software park project commenced in late 2020, with a price tag of VND986 billion (US$38.7 million).

It was expected to provide some 6,000 IT and digital technology jobs.

Although the structures of buildings at the park already reached completion, the project was suspended two years ago due to legal issues, according to VnExpress.

In February this year, the central government issued Decree No. 9 amending and supplementing a number of regulations on investment, finance, and budgeting, with the aim of assisting Da Nang in removing obstacles that have impeded the progress of the project.
